Alicia, Isabela โ€” The Philippine Normal University โ€“ North Luzon officially launched its ๐‡๐€๐“๐€๐– (Health and Team building Activities for Wellness) ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐š ๐ฌ๐š ๐Š๐š๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ ๐š๐ง ๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐ ๐š ๐Š๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ง๐ข program on August 13, 2025, at the Multi-Purpose Hall. Implemented by the Health Services Unit with the initiative and support of the Office of the Director for Administration, Finance, and Planning, this year-long wellness program brings together administrative staff for weekly activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and overall well-being.

Based on the latest Lancet Global Health (2024) report, the Philippines ranks highest in Southeast Asia for physical inactivity, with 46% of its population not getting enough exercise. This alarming figure underscores the need for programs that encourage movement and healthier lifestyles. In support of this goal, HATAW aligns with the Civil Service Commissionโ€™s โ€œThe Great Filipino Workoutโ€, a nationwide initiative mandated for all government agencies through CSC Memorandum Circular No. 6, s. 1995 and reiterated by CSC MC No. 8, s. 2011. This promotes regular physical activity to help reduce sedentary behavior and improve the well-being of government employees.

The HATAW program began on July 28, 2025, with baseline health data collection, where participants had their height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels measured. On August 6, the second activity, Wellness War: Name It, Sing It, and Win It, a lively and interactive quiz game designed to stimulate both mind and body, highlighting the programโ€™s holistic approach.

Set to be conducted every Wednesday, HATAW aims to promote regular physical activity, foster camaraderie, and encourage healthier lifestyles, with staff divided into three teams for friendly competitions designed to strengthen teamwork, boost morale, and increase productivity. The official launch featured a spirited yell competition, energizing dance exercises, and a preview of upcoming activities such as patintero, tumbang preso, team sports, dance activities, wellness bingo, and more.

Through HATAW, PNU-North Luzon underscores its commitment to fostering a workplace culture where health, teamwork, and well-being are valued. The program builds a strong foundation for delivering quality service to students and stakeholders, proving that a healthier workforce is a stronger workforce.
