Philippine Normal University President, Dr. Bert J. Tuga graced the ground breaking ceremony of the Indigenous Peoples classroom building in the IP village of PNU North Luzon on August 8, 2024.
The new IP classroom building will serve as a testament to PNU NLโs commitment to inclusive education and cultural preservation catering on unique educational needs of indigenous students.
The facility will serve as a dedicated space for the promotion and integration of indigenous knowledge, practices, systems, and languages into the academic curriculum.
In his keynote address, Dr. Tuga emphasized the importance of providing a learning environment that respects and uplifts the heritage of indigenous communities, โthis building is more than just a structure; it is a symbol of our dedication to fostering an educational system that honors the rich cultural diversity of our nation,โ Dr, Tuga remarked.
The milestone was made possible through the partnership and collaboration of PNU North Luzon and Nan Sing School of Cauayan City with the donation from the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Vice President for Finance and Administration, Dr. Lordinio A. Vergara also made an appearance together with Nan Sing School of Cauayan City representatives and PNU NL staff and faculty.
This initiative reinforces PNU NLโs role as a leading institution in IP education especially with the celebration of International Day of the Worldโs Indigenous Peoples.
