To foster a robust research culture among educators, Research Management Office (RMO) of PNU Manila in collaboration with the Office of the Director for Research, Extension, Quality Assurance and Development (ODREQAD) pioneered the Research Skills Assessment and Capability Building Program at the 3rd Floor Museum, Innovation Hub for School and Living Traditions and Indigenous Education Building, August 28 to 29, 2024.
This initiative is part of PNU’s continuous efforts to enhance the research capabilities of its faculty and staff, reinforcing its mission as the National Center for Teacher Education, and ensuring that the faculty and staff participating in the program have appropriate research skills relevant to the needs of the academic community and national and international development.
The 2-day seminar-workshop featured an information dissemination session that focused on PNU’s Research and Creative Work Agenda for 2024-2028.
These sessions, spearheaded by RMO Director Dr. Ma Arsenia C. Gomez, and Prof. Maria Victoria Hermosisima provided participants with important insights into the university’s research priorities and the policies governing research development, monitoring, evaluation, and compliance.
The discussion also covered incentives for publication and the role of the PNU Research Ethics Board in ensuring the integrity of research endeavors.
Insights from Dr. Elena A. Navas, Prof. Vivien R. Mauricio, and Prof. Rocky James G. Sarasua came through expert opinion in regard to the activities of the day and broader implications for the university research agenda.
โThese information really help us to plan for our research goals and the discussions enlightened us on the research processes we need to undertake in order to conduct our research in the university. May the survey on our research skills be concretized again through a training to help us more become research-oriented educators, creating waves of positive changes in our own little ways,โ Prof. Sarasua shared as he gave his insights into the 2-day activity.
These were echoed by Dr. Raquel R. Geronimo, master of ceremonies as she mentioned that research leads the vision of PNU to become a globally responsive and future-ready teacher education university.
