With its goal of promoting inclusive education and community empowerment among Indigenous Peoples communities, Philippine Normal University North Luzon, in partnership with National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), conducted a dialogue session with the Local Government Unit of San Guillermo, Isabela on July 14, 2025, to formalize a partnership for extension programs dedicated to Indigenous Peoples communities.
The partnership meeting aimed to encourage LGU San Guillermoโs commitment to PNUNLโs extension efforts, particularly the flagship program PNUNL RECAD: Revitalization and Empowerment through Community Assistance Development among IPs, which will directly benefit the Agta Community of San Guillermo.
Present during the meeting were Dr. Agnes S. Reyes, Executive Director and Provost of PNUNL; Hon. Felipe C. Guyud, III, Municipal Mayor of San Guillermo; Professor Virgilio F. Reyes, Jr., Head of the Extension, Alumni, Linkages, and Internationalization Unit; and Mr. Edgar S. Guyud, Jr., Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR).
Mayor Guyud expressed his full support and enthusiasm for the program and affirmed the LGUโs readiness to work hand-in-hand with PNUNL and NCIP in championing inclusive, culture-sensitive education and sustainable development initiatives for IP groups.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is set to be signed to officially seal the partnership.
This milestone marks a shared commitment to fostering equity, opportunity, and empowerment among indigenous cultural communities.
