Philippine Normal University-North Luzon (PNUNL) joined the First Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 19, 2026, participating in the nationwide exercise to boost disaster preparedness.
The drill simulated an earthquake scenario, prompting a coordinated campus response. Students, faculty, and staff quickly evacuated buildings and headed to designated safe zones, practicing protocols to ensure everyone’s safety.
Leading the drill was the Office of Safety and Security Management, headed by Mr. Sherwin Lopez, with support from the PNUNL ARAYAT Club, who partnered with the National Science Society (NSS) as first aiders and rescuers. They collaborated with students from the Emergency Preparedness and Response Management program to handle victim retrieval, first aid, and fire suppression.
Physical and Health Education majors from the PEMS Club also contributed, applying their training efficiently to support operations alongside fellow rescuers. From fire bucket relays to extinguisher use and first aid procedures, the drill tested skills, timing, and teamworkโreminding the PNUNL community that readiness is practiced, not just learned.
