Philippine Normal University North Luzon (PNU-NL) faculty and staff underwent an intensive one-day bootcamp on the use of NVivo, an industry-leading software for qualitative data analysis at the PNU-NL Multi-Purpose Hall, October 9.
The bootcamp aims to provide participants with in-depth training on how to utilize NVivo 14, a tool essential for researchers involved in qualitative data management, coding, and analysis, particularly geared toward those working with unstructured or complex datasets, helping to streamline their research process while ensuring rigor and accuracy.
Dr. Nicamil K. Sanchez, PhD, MPM, RSW, the Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Consortium Inc. who is recognized for his expertise in research methodologies and data analysis, led the intensive bootcamp.
“Having extensive experience in guiding both academic institutions and organizations in their research endeavors, I know this training will help you maximize your research skills especially in the field of qualitative research,” Dr. Sanchez expressed.
Participants were able to gain valuable insights into best practices in data analysis and hands-on experience in utilizing NVivo 14 for their respective research projects.
Dr. Jane N. Cariaga, Head of Research and Publication Unit at PNU-NL, highlighted the importance of conducting trainings like the NVivo to assist researchers in completing their papers thereby contributing to the research production of the university.
“This training has long been overdue, and now I know that with your participation today, we will help our university complete the research quota that we have committed. This intensive training is especially design for us to become not just familiar with the software but also to be a master of the NVivo,” Dr, Cariaga explained.
Dr. Jandy S. Danzalan, Director for Research, Extension, Quality Assurance, and Development, introduce the guest speaker, setting the stage for a day of learning and development.
The participants received series of tasks and exercises to master the different tricks and trades of the NVivo software.
“I have enjoyed the time in learning to use the software. As someone who is inclined in the qualitative aspect of research, this software is an important aspect of my research undertaking,” Prof. Macaballug shared.
